Investment in Ukraine Agri Commodities

Known as ‘the bread basket of Europe', Ukraine has a long-standing tradition of agricultural production. Home to rich fertile soil, Ukraine is 70% arable land and is currently the world's 8th largest exporter of wheat and ranks 10th for overall cereals exports. At a time when the world's demand for food is increasing dramatically, Ukraine is, according to the World Bank, "in a position to make a significant contribution to the international effort to deal with the food crisis".

The global wheat price reached a massive US$247 on 10th June 2009, and is projected to be US$270 per tonne by May 2011. With 70% of its land being arable land, Ukraine holds 40% of all rich black earth soil globally, and is the perfect location to get involved with an asset whose demand will stay resilient amid uncertainty – soft commodities.

A Ukraine-based management company will oversee all operations and implement western management techniques, technology and state of the art equipment to provide high yields for investors. The price of agricultural land in the Ukraine is forecasted to double in 2009 from US$1,500 a hectare, and then continue to increase by 28% per annum (areas such as Western Europe are overpriced and offer land at around US$13,200 – US$32,200 per hectare)
